Hakunila library will be closed for four months as of May 16

Hakunila library will be closed because of indoor-air-quality repairs from May 16 to September 14, 2022. A bookmobile will serve in Hakunila in May and June. You can return the items you have borrowed at any Helmet library. 

The daycare center on Kimokuja 5 in Hakunila has been under renovation, and the repairs now progress to include the library. The library renovation entails tightening of structures and replacing of surfaces. The aim is to open the library on September 15, 2022.

We will notify of any potential changes on the library’s Helmet website and on social media sites.

A bookmobile will serve in the area from May 18 to June 29, 2022 and from August 3, 2022

The bookmobile will park near Hakunila library every Wednesday at 17:00-18:00 from May 18 to June 29, 2022 and from August 3, 2022. You will find the stop along Hakunilanraitti, beside the overpass.

Due dates of loans during the renovation 

The due dates of most loans made at Hakunila library will be automatically postponed till the library reopens after the renovation. You can return your loans during the renovation to any Helmet library. For example, Tikkurila, Länsimäki and Jakomäki libraries are available in the vicinity.

Because of reasons due to the library system, the due date will not be automatically postponed as regards loans owned by Helsinki and Kauniainen. You should renew any material owned by Helsinki and Kauniainen. If renewing your loans fails and if you cannot return them to another library, contact us.

Check the due dates of your loans by logging in your own account (that is, My Account) on Helmet.fi, so that you can renew them, when required. You can also renew your loans over the phone by calling the library’s customer service, tel. 043 8248 306.

Picking up holds during the renovation

What shall I do if I didn’t have time to fetch my hold before the library closed?

If your hold is already at Hakunila library waiting for pickup, you do not have to do anything. Holds whose status is Ready for pickup will be transferred to Tikkurila library (Lummetie 4). You can pick them up at Tikkurila Library as of May 18, 2022. Please note that this only applies to holds whose last pickup date is after May 14, 2022.

What shall I do if my hold is in transit?

If your hold is already in transit to Hakunila library, you do not have to do anything. Holds with the In transit status can be fetched from Tikkurila Library during the renovation. You can fetch your hold when its status changes from In transit to Ready for pickup. You can check the status of your holds on the Taskukirjasto (Pocket Library) app or by logging in My Account on Helmet.fi.

What shall I do if I want to change the pickup location or freeze my hold?

If your hold is not in the In transit or Ready for pickup status, you can change the pickup location. You can change the pickup location after logging in My Account on Helmet.fi. See instructions for changing your default pickup location.

If you wish to fetch your holds from a bookmobile, change the pickup location into Vantaan kirjastoauto (Vantaa bookmobile) and enter Hakunilan kirjasto (Hakunila library) into the pickup location box. You can fetch your holds from the bookmobile from May 18 to June 29, 2022 and from August 3, 2022.

You can also freeze your holds for the duration of the renovation. See instructions for freezing your holds.

You cannot freeze holds or change their pickup location on the Taskukirjasto application. When required, you can contact any Helmet library.
